Intro

These classes are designed to take the fear out of machine sewing! You will be taught all the basics – how to wind on a bobbin, thread up the machine and make straight seams.

You'll then be shown how to mark up and cut out your fabric using a simple paper pattern, and then put all your newfound skills together to make a simple sewn-up project. You’ll leave feeling confident and no longer afraid, with a lovely item made at ‘Sewstitchcreat8’ workshop!

All materials and tools are provided. If you would rather use your own machine in the class then no problem just let me know. It has been known for machines to come into the workshop that are 30 years old and still going strong, but if it needs a service then I can give a contact for a Sewing Machine Mechanic to give it a service and some ‘Love’ to get it back up and running again!

Make a Tote bag

Make a Tote bag – this a reversible bag, you can bring your own fabrics, cotton woven fabrics are ideal for this project and two fabrics one plain and one pattern would be required, you can then applique an Initial or applique by taking some of your patterned fabric of scraps left over and applique onto the plain fabric.

We offer both evening and daytime individual sessions. Our weekday, daytime sessions are available to block book as a course of six on which you will cover a much wider range of skills and create a different project every week.

Enjoy a coffee and a busy morning stitching in our lovely workshop with a small group of others. In addition to the basic machine skills outlined above you will learn how to lay and cut out patterns, work with interlinings, wadding and stuffing, insert a zip, make a casing and many other invaluable sewing tips from our lovely, experienced teachers.
